Volunteer with Us
We rely on volunteers to deliver our Sunday sessions and also for supportive roles in administration, finance and collecting supplies. We have many student volunteers from both the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University as well as community-based volunteers from all ages and backgrounds. No previous voluntary experience is needed, although we particularly welcome those who would be able to serve as a cook or who have additional skills they can offer our guests (e.g. hairdressing).
Volunteering for the Sunday sessions at the moment involves filling takeaway bags (we provide each guest with a takeaway bag filled with a boxed drink, biscuits, choc treat, banana, and bread and butter), and then serving ours guests, at the table, with a hot-meal and a takeaway bag. There is also time to interact with guests. Once the meal is over tasks include, litter picking, stacking tables and chairs, and wiping down/sweeping up afterwards. There is no obligation however, for volunteers to do any role which they do not wish to. All relevant training and guidance is provided.
If you are interested in volunteering with The Sunday Centre, please fill in the form below and our volunteer coordinator (Michael) will get back to you with more details. If you are unable to volunteer for the Sunday sessions but would like to assist the project in a fundraising capacity or supporting The Sunday Centre in other ways have a look at our “Other Ways To Support Us” page. Please let us know of any ideas that you have at sundaycentre@hotmail.co.uk.
